About Heather Garza

Heather Garza is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and health coach who helps patients turn nutrition science into everyday habits that fit their lives. She is warm, practical, and a good listener, and she partners with each patient rather than handing out a rigid meal plan. Heather takes the time to understand your health history, your goals, and your daily routine, and then she builds an approach you can sustain.

Heather earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, her Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from San Jose State University, and completed her registered dietitian clinical internship at the University of California, San Francisco. She is a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist and a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, and she is certified in Adult Weight Management. Across more than 20 years she has cared for patients at Stanford Health Care, Kaiser Permanente, and in specialized diabetes and lifestyle medicine programs, including diabetes in pregnancy.

At Avita MD, Heather sees patients over video, which makes it easy to fit nutrition and diabetes support into a busy schedule. She works as part of your care team, and patients are referred to her when nutrition counseling is part of their plan. Her focus is steady, realistic change, helping you manage blood sugar, weight, and everyday eating in a way that lasts. Whether you are working to prevent or manage diabetes, adjust your weight, or simply eat in a way that supports your health, Heather helps you get there one step at a time.
