Avita MD offers executive wellness exams with expanded lab panels, hormone profiling, cardiovascular risk assessment, and metabolic health evaluation at our clinics in Los Altos, Mountain View, and Los Gatos. These exams are designed for adults who want a more thorough evaluation than the standard annual physical provides, with testing that looks at 60 or more biomarkers and addresses the health risks that matter most to high-performing professionals.

We are a physician-owned practice with on-site phlebotomy and EKG at every location, same-day availability, and a team of 11 providers. We accept Medicare, most major PPO plans, and HMO plans.

What the Executive Wellness Exam Includes

The executive wellness exam is built around the idea that standard preventive care catches problems late. We test deeper and earlier. Your visit includes:

Expanded Blood Panel (60+ Biomarkers)

We go beyond the basic metabolic and lipid panels. The executive panel includes advanced lipid analysis with particle size and number, fasting insulin and HbA1c for early metabolic dysfunction, a full thyroid panel, key hormones (testosterone, estradiol, DHEA-S, cortisol), inflammatory markers (hs-CRP, homocysteine), nutrient levels (vitamin D, B12, folate, ferritin, magnesium), liver and kidney function, and a complete blood count. Your provider adds or adjusts markers based on your age, sex, family history, and individual goals.

Hormone Assessment

Hormonal imbalances affect energy, sleep, mood, body composition, and cognitive sharpness. We measure the hormones that decline with age or respond to chronic stress and poor sleep. If your levels are off, we discuss options ranging from lifestyle modifications to bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.

Cardiovascular Risk Assessment

Standard cholesterol testing misses a lot. We look at LDL particle number and size, lipoprotein(a), hs-CRP, and homocysteine to estimate your true cardiovascular risk. On-site EKG is available for a cardiac rhythm baseline. For patients with elevated risk or family history of heart disease, we may recommend coronary calcium scoring or advanced imaging through our referral network.

Metabolic and Gut Health

We assess insulin resistance, which often appears years before diabetes shows up on standard tests. For patients with digestive complaints, fatigue, or unexplained symptoms, we can add comprehensive stool analysis, food sensitivity testing, and microbiome assessment. Lifestyle, Stress, and Sleep Review

Numbers only tell part of the story. Your provider spends time reviewing your sleep quality, stress levels, exercise habits, nutrition, and recovery. We discuss actionable changes and, when appropriate, connect you with specialists in sleep medicine, nutrition, or mental health.

Who Should Consider an Executive Wellness Exam

This exam is a good fit if you:

  • Are in a demanding career and want to protect your long-term health
  • Have a family history of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, or Alzheimer's
  • Want to optimize energy, sleep, and performance through data
  • Feel "fine" on standard labs and want to know if deeper testing tells a different story
  • Are interested in longevity medicine and want a comprehensive baseline

What Happens After Your Exam

You receive a full review of every result, not a brief summary. Your provider explains what each number means, how it compares to your previous results (if available), and what the trends indicate. You leave with a clear, prioritized plan. If any results require specialist referral, we coordinate directly with El Camino Health, Stanford, UCSF, and other specialists in the area.

Frequently Asked Questions About Executive Wellness Exams

What makes an executive wellness exam different from a regular annual physical?

An executive wellness exam at Avita MD goes well beyond the standard annual physical. It includes expanded blood work (60+ biomarkers), hormone profiling, inflammatory markers, cancer screening panels, cardiovascular risk assessment, metabolic health evaluation, and a detailed review of your lifestyle, stress, and sleep. The goal is to identify risks years before they become problems.

How long does the executive wellness exam take?

Plan for about 60 to 90 minutes. Your Avita MD provider takes time to review your results in detail and discuss a personalized health strategy. On-site phlebotomy and EKG mean all testing happens in one visit.

What lab tests are included in the expanded panel?

The expanded panel at Avita MD typically includes a comprehensive metabolic panel, advanced lipid panel with particle size, HbA1c, fasting insulin, thyroid panel (TSH, free T3, free T4), testosterone, estradiol, DHEA-S, cortisol, vitamin D, B12, folate, ferritin, hs-CRP, homocysteine, liver function, kidney function, and a complete blood count. Additional markers are added based on your age, family history, and health goals.

Do you offer gut health testing as part of the executive exam?

Yes. Avita MD can include comprehensive stool analysis, food sensitivity testing, and microbiome assessment as part of your executive wellness exam. These tests are especially useful if you experience digestive issues, brain fog, fatigue, or skin problems that have not responded to standard treatment.

Does insurance cover the executive wellness exam?

Parts of the executive wellness exam may be covered under your preventive care benefits. Expanded testing beyond standard preventive panels may be subject to your plan's cost-sharing or may be self-pay. Avita MD will explain costs before ordering any tests so there are no surprises.

How often should I get an executive wellness exam?

Most patients at Avita MD do this annually. If you are managing specific health concerns, optimizing performance, or tracking improvements from lifestyle changes, your provider may recommend more frequent follow-up labs at six-month intervals.
